Spreading Love Through Kisses with the “Kiss the Moment” Christmas Celebrations
On December 1, Shanghai Xintiandi once again teamed up with internationally-renowned design firm PAUL COCKSEDGE STUDIO to create the 2014 “Kiss the Moment” Christmas installation in Xintiandi's South Block. The installation was also incorporated into Shanghai Xintiandi's 2015 New Year Lighting Ceremony. “Kiss The Moment” is an extension of Kiss, a spatialism project consisting of interactive lighting installations. Using the medium of two people kissing, Shanghai Xintiandi worked with designer Paul Cocksedge to give Xintiandi its own Christmas arts experience.
In addition, Shanghai Xintiandi is also working with its socially responsible tenants to help raise money for charity through the project. During the Christmas period, each kiss will be converted into a donation to the “Go to School” program. The “Go to School” program is a fundraising project organized by the China National Radio – MusicRadio and China Children and Teenagers’ Fund, which provides care for left behind children whose parents are migrant workers in need of aid. Yu Kewei, Ambassador of Love, was specially invited to take part in the event and gave the first kiss to a left behind child who will benefit from the donations. With a kiss that was full of warmth and care, she lit up the “Kissmas Tree” and began a journey that would spread love and warmth to those who need it most at this special time of year.
During the festive period, Shanghai Xintiandi also held a number of parties and markets to celebrate Christmas and the New Year. These included the 2014 Christmas Market, which was sophisticated, artistic and full of fun, the Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve Kiss Parties, and Xintiandi Style's Christmas Bazaar, which was held every weekend in December.
