Spectacle of the City – 10th Shanghai Biennale “City Pavilions” Project Makes Shanghai Xintiandi Its First Stop
From December 12, 2014 to March 8, 2015, Shanghai Xintiandi has been made the first stop for this year's Shanghai Biennale “City Pavilions” project, as top artworks are installed in the South Block, North Block and Taiping Lake Park. Based on the theme of “Spectacle of the City”, the works are provided for the enjoyment of art lovers and the residents of Shanghai and cover a number of disciplines, including public art, video and imagery, installations and body art.
Shanghai Xintiandi's aim is to leverage the Biennale exhibition to bring a host of top contemporary artworks to Shanghai, thus providing an innovative new art experience for visitors and art lovers. It is also hoped that this rich array of public spatial art will help create a close connection between art and everyday life, providing a way for the public to freely engage with contemporary art.
